Footloose The Musical at The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham #Review

 Footloose The Musical at

The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham.

Footloose the Musical was in town last night and wow what a night it was. Here at The Alexandra Theatre until Saturday 23rd April - There's still time to grab your tickets now.

Following two critically acclaimed tours and a West End run, Footloose is back and better than ever with the incredible Jake Quickenden as loveable cowboy Willard and the legendary Darren Day as Reverend Shaw Moore. Jake Quickenden brought so much laughter to the stage, he was so funny and so good too. I really loved his 'Mama Says' encore, just wow.

'Lets hear it for the boy' is pretty spectacular too though. Who knew strobe lights and a wind machine could literally make your dreams come true. This had to be my favourite scene.

City boy Ren thinks life is bad enough when he’s forced to move to a rural town in America. But his world comes to a standstill when he arrives in the small town of Bomont to find dancing and rock music are banned following the towns tragic accident five years before. Taking matters into his own hands, Ren has all hell breaking loose and the town on its feet.

It's a great story of love and friendships, that this talented cast brought to life so well.

Everything from the staging, to the lights, to the dance routines and the singing was just fantastic. Everyone did an amazing job. Special mentions from me go out to Jake Quickenden of course but also to Lucy Munden who played Ariel, her voice was incredible when she sang 'Almost Paradise' and to Oonagh Cox who played Rusty who was so good.

Based on the 1980s screen sensation which took the world by storm, Footloose sizzles with spirit, fun and the best in UK musical talent. With cutting edge modern choreography, you’ll enjoy classic 80s hits including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose. It has everyone dancing along.

Footloose the Musical is incredible, I loved every minute of it. Getting totally lost in the show for two hours of my day was so much fun. It was the perfect opportunity to relive my 80's party days by dressing up which I happily jumped at the chance to do. Wearing my neon vest and stripped leg warmers, I had the best time. At the end of the show the cast performed a Megamix of songs and really brought the theatre to life. Everyone was up on their feet dancing, singing and clapping along. There was literally people dancing in the aisles.

The whole theatre was buzzing. It was a truly fantastic night enjoyed by all.

Footloose the Musical is in Birmingham until Saturday 23rd April so do go if you can. You can also find them at other venues across the UK as they continue their tour until August.

Footloose the Musical is a 5 Star Performance indeed.

Disclosure: I was invited for press night. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
