Catch Me If You Can at The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham #Review

Catch Me If You Can at

The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham.

Catch Me If You Can, by Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert is now live on stage at The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham until Saturday 30 Apr 2022. Dallas legend Patrick Duffy, (The Man from Atlantis; Step By Step) Linda Purl, (Happy Days; Homeland) and Gray O’Brien (Peak Practice; Coronation Street) head the cast in this wonderful new production.

The story follows Inspector Levine as he's called to a house in the remote Catskill mountains to investigate the disappearance of newly married Elizabeth Corban. In a bizarre development a woman arrives at the house claiming to be the missing Elizabeth but, instead of celebrating the reunion, her husband accuses her of being an imposter and all sorts of strange things start to happen. Who's telling
the truth? Who's not? Who knows? You'll be gripped the whole way through as the twists and turns take you on a fantastic adventure.

Adapted from French Writer Robert Thomas’ play Trap for a Lonely Man, this highly entertaining mystery has been the subject of three successful screenplays.

I attended last night for Opening Night and Press Night and have to say, I really enjoyed it. The stage setting stays based inside the beautiful holiday lodge but it's all very cleverly done and there's a great attention to detail. The Moose was a great touch, that did make me smile. Patrick Duffy's performance was completely effortless, he held your attention and had you hanging on his every word. The whole cast were wonderful though and even though this play is a thriller, there's also lots of laughs and comedy moments to enjoy too.

My Mum and I both really enjoyed the show and were so glad that we went to see it. The show's a little shorter than most at 2 hours and 5 minutes (that includes a 20 minutes interval) but it's well worth going to see. You know a play's good when you're not ready for the first half to end and as the curtain drops, you want to stay and watch more. This is that play.

Catch Me If You Can Tickets are still available and prices start from just £13.

If you're looking for something different, and a good night out. This show could be just what you need. You can't beat a good Thriller with Comedy fun in it to. It's a great show.

Disclosure: I attended a Press Night Showing. All opinions are my own.

GoBoat Birmingham - New to the City #Review

GoBoat Birmingham - New to the City

GoBoat Birmingham arrived in our city just two weeks ago so I can't wait to tell you all about them. GoBoat is a fun, self drive boating experience where you're the captain of your boat and you choose the route. From their location at Brindley Place, GoBoat gives you access to a stunning section of Birmingham's vibrant canal network.

On a sunny day like yesterday, it's absolutely gorgeous.

Your boat fits up to 8 people including children (dogs are also welcome). No boating experience is necessary, as you’ll be taught everything you need to know. It’s so easy.

Daddy was the Captain of our Boat for the afternoon which he loved.

The friendly GoBoat crew are ready to welcome at their kiosk just under the bridge from the ICC. They'll give you all your boating instructions and provide life jackets and buoyancy aids for babies and children. You’ll also be given a route map to help you navigate your way along the canal loops. There's two routes to choose from, both are fab but we decided on the quieter route away from the city centre and out towards Birmingham University - The Vale.

You can choose to set sail on a 1, 2 or 3 hour adventure depending on what you would prefer. We chose the 2 hour trip which was just right for us. Our boat trip was shared with family but you can grab your friends too if you like. We really made the most of our time out on the water, enjoying a picnic on our travels. The kids were so excited. It's such a lovely way to make lifelong memories, whilst experiencing Birmingham from a whole new perspective.

It's recommend to make your booking online as slots can fill up quite quickly, especially now the warmer weather is creeping in. The price begins at £95 for one boat for the first hour but with 8 people that works out less than £12 per person which is a great price really.

2 hours is £135 and 3 hours is £175.

I loved the added treat of the blankets incase it got a bit chilly out on the water. Luckily we didn't need them on our trip other than to sit on which was very comfy. It was such a lovely touch. The boats have a lovely big table in the middle, plenty big enough for all your picnic needs and seats all the way around the boat so there's room for everyone to sit comfortably.

We had a wonderful afternoon taking in all the sights in the sunshine. It was so nice to see Birmingham from a different viewpoint. I'd forgotten just how beautiful our city is.

GoBoats are powered by low emission rechargeable electric motors - an almost silent tiller controlled Torqeedo Cruise 2.0 electric outboard. Every night their crew plug the electric engines in to charge up, ready for the next day. Boats travel at an ideal cruising speed of 3.5 knots, about 4mph. The wooden tabletop is sustainably sourced forestry kebony. The foam kernel is made of 80% recycled PET, the equivalent of about 600 plastic bottles.

To celebrate their launch they're giving 20% off all trips sailed at GoBoat Birmingham until Sunday 1st May. Use code 'ILOVEBRUM' at checkout.

So pick your crew, pack a picnic and explore Brum!

Disclosure: We were invited for a complimentary experience. Opinions are our own.

Top Trumps Limited Editions have put an adult twist on the UK's no.1 card game - featuring adult's favourite licenses including Friends, James Bond, Splitting Image and many more.

Any number of people can play Top Trumps, that’s what makes it the world’s coolest card game and the aim of the game? To be the first player to win all the cards. That's it!

How to play:

2. Players pick up their cards and look at their top cards only.

3. Player 1 (left of dealer) chooses and calls out their best stat.

4. The other players see if they can beat this stat (Highest number wins).

5. The card with the highest stat wins the top cards and adds them to the base of their pile.

6. The winner of the round chooses the stat for the next round.

7. The first player to get all of the cards wins!

We're huge Friends fans so the Friends TV Series Top Trumps Card Game was always going to be our number one choice really and we're so glad that it was. It's so cool.

The series, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, spanned 10 seasons and 236 episodes! Friends racked up more than 85 hours of gags featuring Rachel, Joey, Monica, Phoebe, Ross and Chandler, and still left viewers wanting more. The show fascinated international audiences with its relatable, charming plot, humour, and authentic friendships - no wonder the series gained so many fans since its premiere in 1994. With this pack of Limited Edition Friends Top Trumps, in its special Cappuccino Case, you don't need to go through the entire series for the 10th time to locate your favourite Friends scenes. Just sit back with a cup of coffee, and enjoy the most iconic moments starring this beloved group.

The James Bond Gadgets & Vehicles Top Trumps Card Game was our next choice as we're huge James Bond fans too, this one's more for Mummy and Daddy though - shh.

Familiarise yourself with thirty vehicles and gadgets that are closely associated with the double O agent also known as James Bond, and use this intel to battle it out with your friends and family for the title of Top Trump! Pick from iconic weapons and tools like the wrist dart gun, Dentonite explosives and the Parker pen, as well as vehicles like the Q Boat and the Aston Martin Vanquish. This pack celebrates some of Q Branch's most incredible gadgets, Bond's spontaneity and resourcefulness when it comes to their usage, and some of 007's foes’ most fiendish devices. Find out which car has the best Technology rating, which gadget is the best disguised, and which is Bond’s most recent piece of kit. Recapping a series of stunning moments from the beloved film franchise, this deck is guaranteed to thrill.

We love this game as you really can play Top Trumps anytime, anywhere, and with as many people as you like. And, with it's easy to carry plastic case it means there are no limits on gameplay. It's a great game to take away on your holidays with you as it fits easily into your pocket, bag or case. It's a nice quick game that all ages can enjoy, my two love playing it.

We shall be popping ours into our bags when we head up to Scotland this summer.

Footloose The Musical at The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham #Review

 Footloose The Musical at

The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham.

Footloose the Musical was in town last night and wow what a night it was. Here at The Alexandra Theatre until Saturday 23rd April - There's still time to grab your tickets now.

Following two critically acclaimed tours and a West End run, Footloose is back and better than ever with the incredible Jake Quickenden as loveable cowboy Willard and the legendary Darren Day as Reverend Shaw Moore. Jake Quickenden brought so much laughter to the stage, he was so funny and so good too. I really loved his 'Mama Says' encore, just wow.

'Lets hear it for the boy' is pretty spectacular too though. Who knew strobe lights and a wind machine could literally make your dreams come true. This had to be my favourite scene.

City boy Ren thinks life is bad enough when he’s forced to move to a rural town in America. But his world comes to a standstill when he arrives in the small town of Bomont to find dancing and rock music are banned following the towns tragic accident five years before. Taking matters into his own hands, Ren has all hell breaking loose and the town on its feet.

It's a great story of love and friendships, that this talented cast brought to life so well.

Everything from the staging, to the lights, to the dance routines and the singing was just fantastic. Everyone did an amazing job. Special mentions from me go out to Jake Quickenden of course but also to Lucy Munden who played Ariel, her voice was incredible when she sang 'Almost Paradise' and to Oonagh Cox who played Rusty who was so good.

Based on the 1980s screen sensation which took the world by storm, Footloose sizzles with spirit, fun and the best in UK musical talent. With cutting edge modern choreography, you’ll enjoy classic 80s hits including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose. It has everyone dancing along.

Footloose the Musical is incredible, I loved every minute of it. Getting totally lost in the show for two hours of my day was so much fun. It was the perfect opportunity to relive my 80's party days by dressing up which I happily jumped at the chance to do. Wearing my neon vest and stripped leg warmers, I had the best time. At the end of the show the cast performed a Megamix of songs and really brought the theatre to life. Everyone was up on their feet dancing, singing and clapping along. There was literally people dancing in the aisles.

The whole theatre was buzzing. It was a truly fantastic night enjoyed by all.

Footloose the Musical is in Birmingham until Saturday 23rd April so do go if you can. You can also find them at other venues across the UK as they continue their tour until August.

Footloose the Musical is a 5 Star Performance indeed.

Disclosure: I was invited for press night. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Diversity - The Connected Tour at The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham

 Diversity - The Connected Tour

at The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham

Diversity Connected is live at The Alexandra from 14 to 16 April and 13 to 14 June 2022.

Diversity took the nation by storm when they won the third series of Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009 and have so far sold out nine UK and Irish tours, selling over 600,000 tickets, with countless television and live performances. They celebrated this incredible achievement with a critically acclaimed sell out 48 show UK tour, Born Ready. But, this tour is set to be even bigger, and as Diversity promised their fans on the Born Ready tour, they will continue the legacy of Diversity and never let anyone tell them they cannot achieve something.

To take them into the new decade of Diversity, Ashley Banjo has created a whole new show, Connected, which centres around the world of modern day social media, the internet, and the digital era we now live in, but more importantly how this connects us all.

We are all Connected.

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of going to see this incredible show for myself.
Diversity is one of the shows , I've had on my 'Must See' List for so long now so it made my night to finally be there. The show is fantastic, everything from the music to the lights and even the staging, is great. The Dancing is of course incredible but we already know that.

Seeing a show like this in a venue like this was the best part as everyone was up close with a great view of everything. It really made you feel like you were a part of it all. The audience last night was a real mix of ages, young and old which was so lovely to see. I loved how we were all brought together through the power of dance and music, even if for just one night.

There's something for everyone, cutesy dances for the kids and more adult focused routines too, but I don't want to spoil too much for you. Let's just say, they brought dancing in the rain to a whole new level and I have to say, that was probably my favourite part of the show.

The Diversity, Connected Tour takes you on a journey through the ages, learning lots about the Internet, modern day technology and the enormous power of it all. It was quite an emotional journey but also one that I was overjoyed to be able to share with them.

The Tour is in Birmingham again tonight and also back in June for another two dates so it's well worth trying to get tickets if you'd like to see them this year. It's a great show.

Or if you'd like to catch it on the road, check out Diversity - Connected 2022

Disclosure: We attended the Press Night. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Spring Cleaning with Eufy HomeVac H30 Mate Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner #Review

Spring Cleaning with Eufy HomeVac H30 Mate

Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

It's April, so the Spring Cleaning is well underway here in our home with the help of our new Eufy HomeVac H30 Mate Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner. The Eufy H30 handheld vacuum cleaner is light weight and has strong suction power and it's ideal for everyday mess. It can help you pick up the teenage hair that covers your living room floor, spillages or crumbs next to the sofa and the mountains of cat hair covering their cat tower. It can even be perfect for that quick clean up job for your cars, everything is possible with the H30!

My favourite feature is that it's
Ultra Lightweight: At 1.78 lbs (808 g) so you can effortlessly clean all those places that you haven't been able to reach before, like air vents, high shelves or light fixtures. It's so light, much lighter than any handheld I've tried before. With two  cats in our house, we need this Pet Hair Magnet in our lives. It easily picks up fur from upholstery and other hard to clean surfaces which makes cleaning up after my pair a real breeze.

Another great feature is the compact charging and storing unit which is so easy to use. You can keep everything charged and stored in one place, so HomeVac is always ready when you need it. It's cordless suction power is an incredible 80 AW / 16kPa so it's suction power delivers extra strength to effectively clean up. You can also easily switch between Eco or Max mode at the flick of a switch, depending on your messes. It's versatile usage means that you can choose between it's various tools, like the mini motorized pet brush and 2 in 1 crevice tool to tackle different messes. It's got everything you need included to spruce up your home this Spring time. And, I love the fact it's so light and 'cool', that my son loves to use it too.

It's usual RRP is £169.99 but there's some great discounts currently available at Amazon right now if you're looking for a new light weight, powerful and reliable vacuum.

I have actually enjoyed using this vacuum as much as any Mother could enjoy cleaning her house. It sure makes a daunting daily task, so much easier to complete so it gets a well deserved thumbs up from me. We've tried many cordless vacuums before and this one is now my new favourite. I hope it'll last me for a few years to come, fingers crossed.
