Week 1 of our Covid 19 Diaries - How We're Doing.
So, a lot has changed here in a week but I'm guessing it's pretty much the same for everyone. Last week I was working away as normal in my retail shop listening to the news of what was happening all around the world. News of the Covid 19 Virus was spreading fast and we were all starting to get very worried. Within days of the news we were reading, my children's schools were closed down and shortly after that, just one day, so was my place of work. When I went to into work on Friday morning, I had no idea that would be the last shift I'd be working for a while. It's all quite sad really but I completely understand why it has to be so and now that the Government are helping us and paying 80% of our wages, I can relax a little and not worry so much about all the bills and other money matters in my life.
Over the weekend, I spent a lot of time talking to my children and helping them to understand what was going on and what was going to happen from now on. They were happy to know that I was going to be staying at home with them so that was a huge relief. I'm no teacher but I am going to help them do a little bit of work each day. There won't be no fancy routines or major schooling plans to stick to here, I don't work well like that at all.
We're going for a more relaxed timetable of work, play, eat and relax. It's going to be a tough few months so I don't want to put too much pressure on them or myself for that fact. I can see so many of my friends sharing pictures of the work their kids are doing at home which tends to make me feel a little uneasy but I won't be trying to compete with any one. Our lives are ours and we'll be doing things our way. We don't need to do what you're all doing.
By Sunday, I had settled down and was actually starting to look forward to spending some time with my children over the next few weeks until Daddy got a phone call to say that someone he's been working with at his workplace has just been diagnosed with the Covid 19 Virus. I was a mess,I had gone right back to square one all in a single moment of time.
Daddy is well at the moment and is still going to work as he's not showing any signs or symptoms of the Virus himself but I am very worried. He's not been in direct contact with the person but he has worked in the same building and he has had direct contact with others who've been in direct contact with him so life's a little worrying for all of us right now.
We're going to continue to monitor Daddy's temperature and keep any eye on him but for now we're all keeping our distance as much as we can, and staying indoors, just incase.
Today is the first Day of our homeschooling journey and all is well so far. The kids have got up and started some work whilst I've been completing some tasks on the laptop. They're having regular breaks and will be going outside in the garden real soon to get some fresh air and exercise - also known as their PE lesson. It's not going to be easy over the next few weeks so our main thing is fun, we're going to try and have lots of fun together whilst we can. Life can get stressful if you let it so we're not going to let that happen to us here.
For now, we are all well and enjoying our time at home together. That might chance in the near future so I'm going to try and keep everyone updated once a week if I can.
Stay Safe and Stay well
