Under the Sea in Cape Verde - It's a Snorkelers Paradise

Under the Sea in Cape Verde - It's a Snorkelers Paradise

Just a few years back, I got to spend two whole weeks in paradise. Sun, sea and Sand. Cape Verde is everything I'd hoped it would be and so much more. The beautiful island of Boa Vista is just a little dot in the ocean but it's so full of life, both on land and under the sea.

Daddy and I love the sea so this was always somewhere on our 'bucket list' of places to visit. Our favourite part of any holiday is always the boat trips out to sea. Being able to swim in the sea is just such a wonderful feeling, you feel free and dresh, daring yet calm. There's a whole host of wonderful creatures under the sea that get forgotten about so very often.

Snorkeling is something we both love to do although Daddy is a much more confident than me but I still like to have a go. I used to struggle with the normal snorkel masks as I was always worried my mouth piece would fall out and I wouldn't be able to breath so when I heard about these new Full Face Snorkel Masks, I was so excited. Finally, a mask for me.

Our boat trip in Cape Verde took us out to sea on their Sea Turtle Catamaran. We got to spend five hours out at sea, relaxing on deck, enjoying a never ending supply of champagne and the freedom to swim and snorkel in the sea. I didn't have my camera at this point so the guy on the ship gave me some of the shots he'd taken on a similar trip for me to use.

Just look at the pretty fish and the beautiful turtle. Cape Verde is know for breeding turtles on it's protected beaches so there's always lots of them around the island to see in the sea.

Without a snorkel mask, I'd never be able to enjoy such sighs as these so I really can't wait for our next underwater adventure as I now have my hands on a beautiful new mask. Simply Scuba kindly sent us some Seac Sub Unica Full Face Snorkels to use on our next trip.

The Seac Unica Full Face Snorkels are a great way to  keep your face out of the water while snorkelling. The mask covers your whole face and lets you look down into the water while breathing normally through your nose and mouth. The wide Z-shaped seal creates an effective watertight seal all around your face and even if any water does get in then it will get trapped away from your face and pushed out the bottom when you breathe out. It's perfect for me, and just what I'd been looking for. It's going to make snorkeling for me so much more relaxing and enjoyable as it takes away all the worrying about breathing properly.

With our new masks all ready and waiting, I wonder where we'll use them next?

Just thinking about our trip to Cape Verde has made me crave another holiday. I'd love a new adventure in the sun, somewhere warm with beautiful views and a deep blue sea.

Those were the days . . .

Disclosure: We received our Snorkel Masks in return for a mention in this post.

Celebrating National Slime Day with Glam Goo #Review

Celebrating National Slime Day with Glam Goo

Apparently It's National Slime Day today (March 17th) So we decided to join in the fun by trying out our new Glam Goo kits. I'll hold my hands up and say now, that I as a Mum, is not a huge fan of slime or goo. It's just so messy and sticky and slim((ey)) I guess and so yucky.

My kids on the other hand would totally disagree with me, they LOVE slime so much and often spend hours in bed on You Tube watching other kids make smile or play with slime or roll slime. I can hand on heart say, they're completely hooked on slome. So when I surprised them this morning with these two gorgeous gift sets from Glam Goo, saying they were very excited would be an understatement. I can still hear those screams of excitement now. I was willing to put my dislike of slime to one side for today, seeing as it's National Slime Day, to let them have some fun. I bet they now wish it was National Slime Day, everyday single day.

We received the Glam Goo Deluxe Pack (around £22.99) and the Glam Goo Fantasy Pack (around £9.99). On first impressions, both boxe sets look very pretty and are very attractive to the eye and they look like great value for the money that they cost. They each contain a container of ready made Goo (clear slime), 3 little tubes of slime sequin styled decorations with pretty names like, Cloud Crunch, Daydreams, and Unicorn Tears. There's two small pots of powder formed colour and one small bottle of liquid scent. I was so happy when I saw that there was no slime making involved as each set comes with a nice sized container of it already made up. For me this was a big deal as it meant there wasn't as much mess as I'd previously worried about there being. In fact, there wasn't really any mess at all - result!

We had great fun decorating our Goo and making it Glam. The Goo is very sticky at first but we found as soon as we added our decorations and colour, it soon got a lot nicer and easier to handle. Lily and Ryan loved playing with this so much, so I'm so glad I decided to let them try it out. Seeing them laugh and smile so much fun, together, was a really lovey treat.

Once the Goo is all decorated you can make it into cute fashion accessories with the help of the added pieces in the sets where you just pop you Goo inside them and wear them with pride. Or, you can just keep on playing with it as the fun slimy, gooey Goo that it is.

Ryan loves stretching, pulling and playing with his Goo whilst Lily is happy wearing her creations in her brand new Glitter Purse. Whatever way they enjoy their Goo, it's all good!

Happy National Slime Day 2019 from all of us here at Mummy Of 3 Diaries! x

So Bomb DIY – Vanity Case #Review

So Bomb DIY – Vanity Case Review

Last week we got creative with the So Bomb DIY Vanity Case. My kids and I all love a relaxing bath, so this set was just perfect for us. The So Bomb DIY Vanity Case lets you design 5 unique fizzy Bath Bombs whilst giving you a cute case to store your ingredients in.

Here's the full list of what you get for your money (£16.99)
  • 1 x Toolcase
  • 3 x Moulds
  • 5 x Bicarbonate Sodium Bags
  • 5 x Special So Bomb Powder Bags
  • 1 x Decoration Bag
  • 1 x Mini Pipette
  • 3 x Cute surprise figures
  • 1 Instruction sheet
The kids were really excited when they saw this as they love bath bombs but I was a little worried that it was going to get very messy. After making them now though, I can say, we didn't actually make that much mess and everything was really easy to clean up afterwards.

It's so simple to do, the kids pretty did most of the steps on their own. You simply pour each packet of powder into a bowl and mix it with a bag of Sodium. You add a drop of water and mix it all up. Filling the moulds was the fun part, both Lily and Ryan had great fun creating lots of colourful patterns. They added sprinkles to the top and hid little surprises in the middle. Popping the two halves together was the trickiest part so I did help with this as when they tried it, they were a little too slow and the powder was trying to escape. Oops.

Once the moulds were all full, we left them on the side to dry for a few hours and then they looked like this (shown below). How cool do they look? They look just as good as the ones we buy ready made in the shops. The kids were so proud and pleased with themselves. Bath times will be great fun this week now that they have all these to use, they can't wait.

We really enjoyed making our own bath bombs with the So Bomb DIY Vanity Case. It was nice and easy to use, great fun to do and the results were super cool. The kids would love to make more in the future so we may have to try out some of their other sets they make.

EasiYo - Make Your Own Yogurt at Home #Review

EasiYo - Make Your Own Yogurt at Home

This week we've been making our own yogurt at home with a little help from EasiYo and their Yogurt Maker. Costing just £16.75 the 1KG Yogurt Maker is sleek and contemporary, very yet simple. With no moving parts or electronics, it's very easy to clean and will fit neatly on any kitchen shelf. The Yogurt packets themselves start from £2.60 depending on which variety you buy. There's loads of great flavours to choose from and low fat options too.

I'm going to talk you threw the three easy steps it takes to make your own yogurt:

Step One: You'' need to half-fill your yogurt jar with room temperature, drinking water. Then add the contents of a yogurt sachet into it, pop on the lid and give it a good shake. You can then fill the jar up with more water to about 5 mm from the top... and shake it up again.

Step Two: You'll need to push the plastic insert spacer down inside the Yogurt Maker as far as it can go. (Check the correct side is facing up, it is clearly marked so you will know). You then pour boiling water into the Yogurt Maker to the top of the plastic insert spacer. I made the mistake of filling it up after I'd put the yogurt jar in which meant I didn't add enough water so be sure to fill your yogurt make with water and then add the yogurt jar into it afterwards.

Step Three: Last but not least, you'll need to put your jar into the Yogurt Maker so that it sits on top of the plastic insert. The boiling water will rise part-way up the sides of the jar. You can then put the Yogurt Maker lid back on and leave it on your kitchen worktop for 8 to 12 hours (or overnight) to let the yogurt set... and the magic will happen! It really does happen!

Once you've made your yogurt, you can then pop the whole yogurt jar into the fridge to keep. I made some little Strawberry and Banana flavoured yoghurt pots this week, I simply filled some little pots (plastic shot glasses) to make some fun little yoghurt pots and then topped them with raspberries and strawberries for the kids. Don't they look great?

You'll be happy to know, the yogurt tastes great too. It's smooth and creamy and tastes fab.

I've not been a huge fan of yogurt in the past but I'll be sure to try more of it now.

Luxury Afternoon Tea for Two at The Belfry with Red Letter Days #Review

Luxury Afternoon Tea for Two
at The Belfry with Red Letter Days.

With Mother's Day coming up later this month, I've been looking for things to do with my Mum that she'd enjoy, top of my list of things we love to do is always Afternoon Tea. We've been to many places over the past few years and always have such a lovely time so when the lovely people from Red Letter Days offered me the chance to review one of their luxury experiences, I happily obliged. I chose their Luxury Afternoon Tea for Two experience which for £60 offers you a luxury afternoon tea at one of over 60 handpicked UK venues.

Each of these chic and inviting establishments boasts a great location, excellent service and a perfectly luxurious setting in which to unwind and observe a quaint English tradition. Tuck into an indulgent spread (the exact menu varies depending on location) of special sweet treats, delicious cakes, pastries and delicate finger sandwiches, accompanied by a refreshing blend of tea and coffee - some venues even include a glass of bubbly each!

Once I'd purchased my voucher, I then popped my location into their website and choose the one nearest to me which just happened to be in the Belfry Hotel's Brabazon Bar

Purchasing and using my Red Letter Days voucher was really easy and quick to do. Once you have your voucher, you simply get in touch with your chosen venu and book yourself in using it. I did my booking by email which was all very straight forward and again, very easy.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when we visited The Belfry as there's not a huge amount of information about it on their website. There was plenty of information about times and prices and a brief description of what would be served but that was it really. So, we went along last week not expecting too much really but was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful service we received. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, we were looked after so well. Our waitress was so friendly and chatty and really made us feel welcome. We were shown to our nicely laid out 'reserved' table and told all about what was going to happen. We were told that we would be able to have more sandwiches if we were still hungry after we had eaten our first plate which was a first for me. I've been to lots of Afternoon Teas and never been offered more sandwiches before which was a nice surprise.

I loved the Creamed Cheese one the best but the Salmon was delicious too. We did have a second plate of sandwiches which was a must as they all just tasted so nice. After the sandwiches, came the scones which were bought out once we were ready for them so that they were served fresh and warm. Again, these were delicious and a lovely little treat to enjoy. As well as the lovely food, The Belfry offered a wide selection of Teas and Coffees but the lady also said we could have any hot drink of our choice so as well as my traditional Tea, I got to enjoy a tasty hot chocolate as well which came in a huge cup that lasted me a while.

At no point did we feel rushed or hurried, The Belfry was very busy with people that afternoon but everyone was so relaxed. The friendly staff were looking after everyone.

Last but not least were the cakes and pastries which looked so pretty. There was a lovely little selection and again, everything tasted really good. I think we spent a total of two hours enjoying our Afternoon Tea and chatting away, which was really lovely. We both had a wonderful time there and would go back again definitely. I've already told all my friends and family how lovely it was so they can try it out too as it's not too far away from where we live.

The little Lemon Cheesecake was my favourite, it was just so yummy.

Afternoon Tea at The Belfry was a very enjoyable experience and one that we hope to do again soon, it was that good. Red Letter Days have so many luxury experiences on their website for you to choose from and they make it really easy for you to find the perfect one for you. If you're looking for something nice to do with your Mum this Mother's Day, pop on over to their website and check them out to find your perfect experience for where you live.
