Bear Grylls Adventure Birmingham - I Did It!

Bear Grylls Adventure Birmingham - I Did It!

The Bear Grylls Adventure has landed in Birmingham and its now open!

It's the Home of Earth’s greatest adventure challenges set to test your limits as you take on some of the world's most incredible mental and physical challenges inspired by Bear’s love of adventure. You'll get all geared up and ready to climb, dive, fly, zip, leap, scramble and explore. Escape the ordinary and push yourself to achieve the remarkable. It's incredible.

Upon arrival at the NEC, there's a special car park just for the Bear Grylls Adventure users which has a cheaper rate to park than other events. You'll be given a yellow token from the machine which helps calculate how long you've been there as the car park is charged by the hour. A little bit of advice, when you get to the Reception counter, don't forget to ask them to Validate your token or you'll be charged a 'non validation' charge of £20. We got back to the car before realising this and had to walk back to get it validated so just a quick heads up.

The whole place looks amazing, once you step through those front doors it's like you've left Birmingham behind and headed into a whole new world. I loved the decorations and props inside. There were crashed helicopters stuck in trees, army trucks to eat your lunch on the back of and tyre tracks across the floors that looked like wet patched but weren't. They were pretty cool as they had me fooled, I had to go over and touch them to see for myself.

The staff were all very friendly and helped us book in quickly, with no problems. Our Basecamp time was 10.30 so once we were all there, we were all set to start. Our group had a total of 8 people in it so the groups were nice and small which I liked. Our guide, Cameron was great at explaining what we going to do and lead us along on our journey.

Basecamp is made up of 4 activities: the Break Out Escape Room, Targets Archery, the Survival Maze and the Assault Course. Each one was great fun. Yes they did push me to my limits but I did them all and was so proud of myself at the end after having completed them. The Escape Room was quite hard and both our teams failed to get out by themselves but we had fun trying. The Survival Maze was the scariest for me but it was also very exciting. The Archery was fun - I got three bullseyes! Nobody else even got one so I was happy and the assault Course was the hardest physically but again I gave it my best shot.

You may remember, I wrote a post a few days ago telling you all about how I was going to take on the Deep in their Dive Challenge. I told you the truth, that I wasn't sure whether I was going to be able to go through with it or not but I went along with a positive mental attitude and was determined to do it and I did! It was hard for me but the instructors were amazing and helped me through everything I was struggling with and I did it. I Dived!

This is the huge tank where the Dive takes place.
It's filled with Sharks, StingRays and all sort of Tropical Fish.

The Dive is a 2 hour experience which will cost you £100 but that price includes all 4 Basecamp activities too which I think is a really decent price for such a 'once of a lifetime' experience. I'd never dreamt that I'd be able to Dive with Sharks in the middle of Birmingham before but it is now possible thanks to Bear Grylls and his Adventures.

What to expect:
  • Experience the tropical tank together with over 800 sea creatures!
  • PADI beginner's certificate - All safety equipment provided
  • Each dive will generate a donation to the Shark Trust
  • Entry to the Adventure Basecamp
  • Total experience time: 210min

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your start time.

The instructors were so friendly and helpful and really helped me overcome my fears of being under water. Thanks to their patience, I got to experience something that I will truly never forget. I was underwater for a whole 20 minutes walking around the bottom of the tank. It was so surreal and I truly loved every minute of it. I thought beforehand that I was going to be terrified of the sharks but I wasn't. They were actually more scared of me than I was of them. They happily swam around the top of the tank leaving me alone at the bottom.

Above, is me doing the OK sign with the fishes in the tank. I was lucky enough to be allowed my GoPro in with us so I've popped Video below for you too see what it was all like.

I can hand on heart recommend this experience to everyone as it's so amazing. Each Dive is with no more than 4 people at one time so you get a very personal experience. You will need to book your tickets online as this is going to be very popular once the word gets out.

Let me know if you decide to go, I'd love to hear how you get on.

Disclosure: I was invited to the Bear Grylls Adventure for free in return for an honest review.

My Bear Grylls Adventure - Can I Face my Fears and Do it?

My Bear Grylls Adventure -
Can I Face my Fears and Do it?

I have some really exciting news this week. There's a brand new attraction opening in Birmingham this weekend and it's going to be huge! If you're a fan of Bear Grylls or doing things that are totally out of your comfort zone, then this place is going to be perfect for you.

The Bear Grylls Adventure can be located at the (N.E.C) National Exhibition Center, Halls, Marston Green, Birmingham B40 1PA. It's very close to the Train Station (Birmingham International) and easy to find by car too. It's a place I've visited many a time before.

This Sunday, in just 5 days time! I am going to be taking on the deep and diving into a big tank to get up close to over 1,000 underwater creatures incl. sharks and stingrays. I am so excited but also utterly terrified at the same time. I've never done anything like this before, so believe me when I say, I really don't know whether I'll have it in me or not to actually do this. I love the sea and all the amazing creatures in it but I've never really got that close before. I'm normally the one swimming in the sea, trying not to look down. I'm the one snorkeling but trying to avoid all the creatures and swimming away when they get too close.

It's going to be a real challenge for me but I'm going to try and face my 'fishy fears' and tackle them all, head on. It's completely out of my comfort zone but I can't wait. Bring it on!

If the Dive wasn't exciting enough, I'm going to be taking on the Bear Grylls Base Camp to. The Base Camp will consist of 4 thrilling challenges in an 90 action-packed minutes:

BREAK OUT - Escape Room:

Crack codes, solve puzzles and find your way out of the room.

TARGETS Archery:

You’ll need ultra-focus and precision for the targets ahead. Get a score to be proud of.

When all goes dark, you'll find your way out. When the walls are squeezing in, you will find your way through. When faced with challenge, you will keep your nerve.

Balance, jump, climb and scramble your way through the assault course against the clock.

I'm so excited and hoping to show you all how amazing it is when I do it on Sunday.

Watch this space and do come back to see how I got on - here's hoping for good news.

Send Positive Thoughts x

Baby Alive Potty Dance Baby #Review

Baby Alive Potty Dance Baby Review

Baby Alive Potty Dance Baby is a real cutie pie. Aimed at children aged 3 years and over, she's a real delight to have around. She has a whopping 50 phrases that she can say to you and she can speak in both English and Spanish. Also, a feature I love is that she can call you either Mummy or Daddy at the simply flick of a switch on her back. I've not seen a feature like this before on a doll but it's great as my son can now play with it if he chooses and practice being a Daddy too. This doll is very inclusive, which I love, what a great idea.

The Baby Alive Potty Dance Baby comes in a choice of 3 dolls, each one different. She's a sweet doll wearing big kid undies for when she needs to go potty. Some of her phrases are very cute and we do love the way she sings songs as she goes. She's such a sweet doll.

This doll has very pretty big brown eyes like all 3 of my children do which is lovely. She also has curly brown hair tied up into cute bunches and a lovely little outfit on too. She's adorable. Included in her box with her, is her potty, hairbrush, drinking bottle and reward chart and stickers. She also has a pair of cute big girl pants with added frills for extra cuteness. Lily is a real girly girl so this doll is right up her street. She loves that she's like a baby but also likes that she's a bigger girl that she can help with her 'potty training'.

When she's thirsty, you'll need to fill the water bottle with water and give her a drink. You'll then need to help her on the potty and she'll sing and go "pee-pee!". Don't worry though as it's a magic potty because it's the only place she'll wee so there's no mess - hooray.

If you hold her hands whilst she's on her potty, she'll do a potty dance for you.

Don't forget to pretend to wash her hands when she's finished  so you can put a sticker on her rewards chart to show her she did an awesome job! There's lots of fun to be had with her. Little ones will love dressing her up as she's fully poseable and will love combing her hair as it's too cute not to style and there's hours of fun to be had just listening to all the silly things that this doll says. She's had us laughing out loud on several occasions - awesome.

A Baby Alive Potty Dance Baby Doll will cost you £49.99 and is available from all good toy stores. I can see this doll being very popular this Christmas as she's just so much fun to play with. She's more than just a drink and wet doll, she's full of cute personality and has lots of interactions to enjoy, time and time again. She really is a lovely doll to play with.

Venom 2017 Pro Mini BMX #Review

Venom 2017 Pro Mini BMX Review

The Venom brand was created back in 2012 after seeing these awesome little bikes being made as bespoke items in Indonesia, Venom then decided the ride of a Mini BMX should be available for the world to enjoy and so the Venom Mini BMX was born! The Venom Pro has been designed to cater for the more serious rider who wants a mini BMX with all of the premium features you would expect from a full size Pro BMX, including 3 piece cranks, a top loaded stem and premium translucent colour ways. A few weeks back I gave my son, Ryan, the choice of any Mini BMX Bike from the Skates.Co.Uk website. After a long hard look at them all he decided that he wanted the Venom 2017 Pro Mini BMX. He loved the colour and decided the snake logo on the seat was the deciding factor for him as it was just 'super cool' and he had to have it. (Bless).

Stunt Bikes and Stunt Scootering is becoming really popular right now. We often like to stop and watch the local kids at our skate park as they zoom up and down the ramps doing their magical tricks and stunts. It's something my boy has always wanted to have a go at himself.

Root Industries are getting particularly popular with riders at the moment.

With his new Venom 2017 Pro Mini BMX, he's now able to join in. He may not be able to do all the cool tricks that the pro's can do but he sure looks the part whilst he's learning and trying his best. He's been having great fun practising these past few weeks and really loves his new bike. I was a little unsure about the size of the bike and the whole practicality of how he'd be able to ride it but I really shouldn't have wasted any time worrying about it because he's doing just fine. The Mini BMX's are suitable for everyone: boys, girls, men and women.

The Venom 2017 Pro Mini BMX will cost you £129.99 from Skates.Co.Uk.

Ryan is no pro just yet but he's enjoying riding his BMX anyway. He's never had a BMX bike before so it's taking some getting used to but he's loving it. The great things about this bike is that it will last for years, he won't be outgrowing it any time soon. At the moment he's sitting down when riding but as he gets bigger he can learn to ride standing up too. There's so many stunts and tricks just waiting to be mastered and I just know that he's going to have so much fun learning them all but for now, he's just happy riding his super cool bike around.
