Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year #2018

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year #2018

So, that's it. Christmas is all done for another year and Thank God for that!

Yes it's been fun and exciting and full of festive films and fabulous food. Yes, there's now 3 happy children with more toys and gifts than they really need and yes they all had a wonderful day. BUT If I'm honest, I am exhausted and kind of glad that we made it through and it's all done and dusted for another year. I'd take down the Tree and Decs now if I could.

Our Day went something like this: Kids woke me up around 8am and we all went down stairs to see if Santa had been (which he had). Once everyone was up, we then sat around the room in a circle taking it in turns to open one gift at a time which was lovely as always.

After present opening time, it was time to get dressed and head to Nanny's house to visit family and open even more presents. We shared hugs and gifts and had lots of festive fun.

My big Brother insisted on a family photo which is what the photograph below is. It's practically impossible to get a nice photo of all of them together. There's always one or two of the kids pulling a silly face to try and ruin it. I gave up taking pictures in the end so this is the best of a bad bunch. Both Ryan and Lily are pulling faces but at least they're all looking at the camera I guess. If I crop the silly pair out, Chloe, my Brother and Mum would look Ok.

After visiting my family we then headed off to spend the day with daddy's family. We had a wonderful mean and enjoyed a few too many drinks and chocolatey treats but all was good. The kids got to open even more presents and gave out even more festive hugs and kisses.

Our Christmas Day was a long one but also a very enjoyable one. 2018 in general has been a pretty good year for all of us here. I'm now hoping that 2019 will be even better for us.

This will probably be my last post of 2018 so I'm going to wish you all a very Happy New Year. May it be filled with fun and good health. Excitement and good times. Here's to a good one for us all. Thank you so much for popping by to see me every now and again. It means a lot and I can't wait to do it all over again with you in 2019 - Thank You xx

Christmas is Coming and Mummy's getting Stressed.

Christmas is Coming and Mummy's getting Stressed.

Christmas is coming and Mummy's (that's Me) is getting stressed. It's not even December yet and I can already feel my stress levels rising and my happiness levels dropping and although I may appear to be completely 'fine' on the outside, I can assure you, I am actually far from it underneath. Every year is the same but this year, I've almost had enough of it all.

For me Christmas is about my children, my family and my closest friends. It's about showing how much we love each other and care. It's not about who can buy the biggest and best presents. Christmas just seems to bring out the worst in some people and I can't stand it.

I am NOT going to try and compete this year. I am better than that. I am NOT going to worry myself if your kids get better presents than my kids, they won't care about that and I am NOT going to care if your present is shinier than mine. I am not materialistic like you!

I won't be getting myself into debt and I won't be spending money I don't have. We all live very different lives and some of us don't have the money or lifestyle that you may have so this year, I am NOT going to pretend that we're the same by buying you gifts I can't afford just so you don't notice. I am NOT ashamed. Some of us live month to month and paying our bills and looking after our children is far more important than splashing out on unnecessary crap at Christmas. It's just one day of the year, after all.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be working all the hours I can to earn every pound I can, to give my family the best Christmas that I can afford to give them. I won't say it's' going to be easy and I won't say that it won't be stressful as I know that it will be. There will be sleepless nights and lots of tears but hey, I guess that's just the way it's going to be.

Christmas is stressful. It is! So if I seem a little stressed this season, please forgive me.

This Mummy is trying her best x

Stonehouse Pizza Parties - There's Dough Much Fun to be Had. #Review

Stonehouse Pizza Parties.
There's Dough Much Fun to be Had.

Pizza is a family favourite in our house so when we were asked if we'd like to host a Pizza Party at our local Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery, we wouldn't possibly say no now, could we.

Everything was so easy to organise, from start to finish. Our nearest Stonehouse Pizza was at the Fox in Walmley so that's where we chose. Online there's a list of steps of how to arrange the party. We printed our invites, filled them in and handed them out to Ryan's friends in school. The parties are recommended for children aged between 4 and 10 years.

We hosted our Pizza Party for 8 children in total, most of our guests were aged 8 years as they were all from Ryan's class at school, with the exception of my daughter Lily who's 11.

Upon arrival we were shown to our Party Area where the table was all set up with activity sheets and pencil crayons, chef hats, rolling pins and disposable aprons. Everything looked great and the kids were all so excited when they saw it all. Once everyone was seated, we got stuck straight in. The Pizza Chef came out to show everyone how to roll their dough and then they all got to roll their very own pizza which was so much fun, the kids loved it.

The kids were all given little pots of Pizza Toppings to create their own Pizza masterpieces.

Ryan likes his pizza plain so he added his tomato base and then lots and lots of cheese. Some of his friends added a little bit of everything which was really nice to see. There were children eating fresh pineapple pieces, slices of mushroom and lots of pieces of Pepperoni.

Lily went the extra mile and made her pizza into a big smiley face which was brilliant.

The staff were so friendly, popping over every few minutes to see if there was anything we needed which was nice and reassuring. All the kids were delighted with their creations and enjoyed making them very much. It was great to see the kids having fun, trying new things.

Making their own pizza gave them the freedom to play and experiment with the Toppings.

The Pizza's didn't take long to cook, probably around 10 minutes, if that and once served the children were given little side plates so that they could help themselves to some sides or chips from the Sides Cart which also had a nice choice of Salad and Pasta which looked delicious. All the kids had plenty to eat and each got given a drink which was included too.

After the Pizza, came the Ice Cream or orange segments if they didn't want ice cream. The kids were so excited, each child was given a Sundae glass and a spoon and allowed to make their own ice cream treat. They filled their glasses with ice cream from the machine and then added what sauces and sweet toppings they wanted. The ice creams are Bottomless too, meaning the kids can fill their glasses up as many times as they want.

The Pizza Parties should last for approximately 1 and a half hours but ours did run over slightly today. Everyone was having so much fun that time really did run away with us, as they say, "Time flies when you're having fun". It's been such a lovely afternoon and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was so nice to let the children have some fun together outside of school hours. I wish we could do it more often for them really.

A Pizza Party at Your Local Stonehouse would cost you just £6.99 per child which is a really great price for everything they got today. I think they ate that much in food alone.

As if all that wasn't enough. Each child got given a Goody Bag on the way out to take home.

We've all had such a fantastic day today and would definitely do it all again. It was so much fun and so worth the money. Each of the kids had a lovely day and will hopefully take so much away from today. Maybe they'll even start making their own pizzas at home too.

Disclosure: We were invited to host a Pizza Party at our local Stonehouse Pizza in return for an honest review. All opinions expressed within this review are 100% honest and my own.

Feisty Pets - An Alternative Halloween Gift Idea #Review

Feisty Pets - An Alternative Halloween Gift Idea

Aww, just look at how cute and cuddly they both are, meet the Feist Pets from Jazwares

This is Glenda Glitterpoop and Sammy Suckerpunch. They're totally adorable but eek - don't be fooled by those cute fury faces. They may look innocent but these cute and cuddly pets have a dark side. A dark side, making them perfect for alternative Halloween gifts this year.

These cute plush toys go from happy and sweet too angry and feisty at the simple squeeze of a button. There's no batteries involved which I love because they'll never need changing or run out. There's two easy to press buttons, one located on each side of the pets head behind the ears which you'll need to press together at the same time to change their expressions from cute to fur-ociously funny. Both Ryan and Lily laughed so much when they saw them for the first time as they wasn't expecting their pets faces to change like they did.

We've had great fun playing with our Feisty Pets this past week, we even painted our faces on one of the days to look like our pets. I'm not the best at painting faces but I had a go and we had fun, and the kids were happy so that's all that matters really. Just look at their faces.

There are several different Feisty Pets to collect, each one just as scary as the others.

They will cost you just £14.99 each which is a great price for a toy that's just going to keep on giving and are available to buy from Argos, Smyths and other big toy sellers.

They're just perfect for Halloween, if you're looking for something other than chocolate, these could be ideal. They can be used for cuddly pets or scary pets, whenever you like.

Disclosure: We received our Feisty Pets in return for an honest review.

More Treat than Trick at Drayton Manor this Half Term #Review

 More Treat than Trick at
Drayton Manor this Half Term : Review

It's More Treat than Trick this Half Term at Drayton Manor park this year. We had the pleasure of visiting this weekend to see what all the fuss was about and have to say, we had a really lovely time. The sun was shining, the park was decorated beautifully with spooky statues and pumpkins everywhere. The rides were all open (except two) and the queues were virtually non existent, we didn't wait more than 5 minutes for any of the rides which surprised us seeing as it was such a warm, sunny day for this time of year. It was fab!

Running from October 20th up until November 1st. Drayton Manor Park has some frightfully fun family Halloween activities and eerie entertainment waiting just for you and your family.

As well as all the fun of Thomas Land for younger kids and the bigger rides of Drayton Manor for the older kids. You also get the extra fun of exciting, Meet and Greets with Thomas Spooky Characters. Face your fears activities in the Reptile House and Keeper Talks in the Zoo. There's even Pumpkin Carving above the Main Thomas Land Shop. My fave part: You can Trick or Treat at the Fat Controllers house in Thomas Land which my two loved doing. Even though they were older than most children in the queue, they still loved it.

The Park was decorated beautifully with lots of picture perfect spots set up for you to use.
There were hay bale scenes for sitting on, Giant Pumpkins for posing in and so much more.

We had a lovely day out at Drayton Manor as usual, there's always so much fun to be had. We rode so many rides and enjoyed ice creams and doughnuts in the sunshine. For us, Drayton Manor is one of our favourite local attractions to visit as a family as there's always something for everyone. Although my little boy is 8 years old, he's a small 8 and not quite at the 1.2metres mark so he couldn't go on lots of the bigger rides which he did cry at the Bumper Cars when he still wasn't big enough to ride but I've promised him that he should have grown a little bit more by the time next Summer comes and then we'll go again to see if he can finally go on them all. I'll keep my fingers crossed but I'm sure he'll be tall enough.

Drayton Manor has lots to offer families like mine. The rides are great fun and there's a good selection, the queues are often small and the park is not too big so everything's nice and compact so there's not too much walking to do. And, if you don't like rides, there's the Zoo.

This may have been out last visit for this year but it's certainly not our last visit.

Remember if you do want to go, it's much cheaper to book your tickets online in advance.

Visit Drayton Manor Theme Park for more info.

Zuru Toys: Smashers Gross Series 2 Triple Pack #Review

Zuru Toys: Smashers Gross Triple Pack
Season 2 Review.

Smashers are back and they're Grosser than ever! The Smashers Gross Series 2 from Zuru Toys are back with a over a 100 brand new collectibles to collect. We were sent one of their Triple packs to see how cool they are for ourselves. The original smashers came in little red balls whereas these ones come in really cool white ones with eye balls printed on them. The idea is still the same, you just throw and smash to find your surprise disgustingly gross character hiding inside. My youngest two loves these things, I think it's the whole surprise element that keeps them wanting more. Once they get one, they need them all.

A Triple pack costs just £2.99 at the moment from Smyths which makes them perfect for your kids 'pocket money' toys. I really like the fact that they're quite cheap as it means I can buy lots of them for Christmas and it won't cost me a small fortune to have one very happy little boy. Ryan who's 8 now, loves playing with these. He gets so excited that he's actually allowed to throw them on the floor or at the wall to smash them open. I'm forever telling him not to throw his toys on the floor so he loves that these are the exception to that rule.

Both Ryan and Lily were really pleased with the three characters they found inside their Smashers, they're going to be great for Halloween. We now have the start to our Series 2 collection which I'm sure will be expanding pretty soon as the kids are already asking me to get them some more. My two love surprise toys and collectibles so these Smashers tick both boxes. They're fun and thrilling, exciting and gross. Everything my children love.

The Smashers Gross Series 2 Triple Pack gets a huge thumbs up from Ryan and Lily.

Drumond Park's - Word Bandit Game #Review and #Giveaway

Drumond Park's - Word Bandit Game
Review and Giveaway.

This week we've been playing a new game from Drumond Park called Word Bandit.

Word Bandit is a brain-teasing, family-friendly game aimed at children aged 8 years and over. Yes, it is a board game but with a difference because at the centre of the game is a wheel-spinning letter machine, just like a small ‘one-arm bandit’.  The game is made up of four easy word games which can be played in two teams made up of any number of players.

Getting ready to play is simple as all you need is the board, the bandit machine, the sand timer and your two team pieces. The board folds out quickly making it easy to set up, so it's a nice game to play as the setup time is literally just a few seconds and anyone can do it.

Each team picks a playing piece and puts it on the red START space. They then take it in turns to move around the board, one space at a time. The colour of the space you land on dictates which of the four games your team will have to play.  One of the team members pulls the bandit’s handle to spin the wheels each turn, and the opposition counts the score.

The Purple Circle = Winding Words

Open the sliding cover on the machine to reveal four rows of letters, then pull the handle to spin the word wheels, which come up with a set of random letters. The aim is to race the timer to find as many words as possible that wind around the grid of letters.

The Green Circle = Famous People

Three rows of letters will be revealed, spin the word wheels to start the game. The aim here is to find the INITIALS of as many famous people as possible during one turn of the timer, and here – the letters do not need to be touching in the grid. From Beyonce to Snow White!

The Yellow Circle = Things that begin with

Using two Rows this time. Spin the word wheels as before. Your playing piece is on a yellow space with a category printed on it (e.g. Boys’ Names). You must come up with as many words as possible in that category beginning with one of the letters on show. You can use any letter as many times as you like, as long as the words are different.

The Red Circle = Words Containing

Using just one row now, spin the word wheels. Here, you have to call out as many words as you can  that contain any two of the letters you have spun. The letters contained in your words can be in any order, and repeating the letters in your words is OK. Master wordsmiths may choose to think up words with all three letters in them!

We found it a little tricky at first as there are four different word games to play depending on which coloured spot your team lands on but we soon got used to it and it's OK to keep the rules with you to refer back to when needed. Word games are always great fun and ones we'd often play in our house as they're a great way to make playtime, educational and fun.

Priced at just £24.99 I think it's going to be popping up on a lot of children's Christmas Lists this year. Both my younger two, aged 8 and 11 years had great fun playing it and would happily have added it to their Christmas List's if they didn't already have it. I love the fact that they can play with just the two of them, they can set it up themselves and play happily.

Giveaway Time - Who wants to win one?

The lovely people over at Drumond Park have given me a copy of Word Bandit to give away to one of you, my lovely readers. I'm going to keep it simple to enter using the Rafflecopter Form which will load just below this text. There are lots of ways to enter but it's up to you how many, you want to do. Please feel free to do as many or as few as you'd like but remember, the more you do, the more chances you'll have to win - Good Luck x

Terms and Conditions: One winner will be drawn at random using the Rafflecopter app on October 31st and contacted by email using the email address linked to their account. Open to the UK only. The prize is being supplied by Drumond Park - Good Luck x

Bear Grylls Adventure Birmingham - I Did It!

Bear Grylls Adventure Birmingham - I Did It!

The Bear Grylls Adventure has landed in Birmingham and its now open!

It's the Home of Earth’s greatest adventure challenges set to test your limits as you take on some of the world's most incredible mental and physical challenges inspired by Bear’s love of adventure. You'll get all geared up and ready to climb, dive, fly, zip, leap, scramble and explore. Escape the ordinary and push yourself to achieve the remarkable. It's incredible.

Upon arrival at the NEC, there's a special car park just for the Bear Grylls Adventure users which has a cheaper rate to park than other events. You'll be given a yellow token from the machine which helps calculate how long you've been there as the car park is charged by the hour. A little bit of advice, when you get to the Reception counter, don't forget to ask them to Validate your token or you'll be charged a 'non validation' charge of £20. We got back to the car before realising this and had to walk back to get it validated so just a quick heads up.

The whole place looks amazing, once you step through those front doors it's like you've left Birmingham behind and headed into a whole new world. I loved the decorations and props inside. There were crashed helicopters stuck in trees, army trucks to eat your lunch on the back of and tyre tracks across the floors that looked like wet patched but weren't. They were pretty cool as they had me fooled, I had to go over and touch them to see for myself.

The staff were all very friendly and helped us book in quickly, with no problems. Our Basecamp time was 10.30 so once we were all there, we were all set to start. Our group had a total of 8 people in it so the groups were nice and small which I liked. Our guide, Cameron was great at explaining what we going to do and lead us along on our journey.

Basecamp is made up of 4 activities: the Break Out Escape Room, Targets Archery, the Survival Maze and the Assault Course. Each one was great fun. Yes they did push me to my limits but I did them all and was so proud of myself at the end after having completed them. The Escape Room was quite hard and both our teams failed to get out by themselves but we had fun trying. The Survival Maze was the scariest for me but it was also very exciting. The Archery was fun - I got three bullseyes! Nobody else even got one so I was happy and the assault Course was the hardest physically but again I gave it my best shot.

You may remember, I wrote a post a few days ago telling you all about how I was going to take on the Deep in their Dive Challenge. I told you the truth, that I wasn't sure whether I was going to be able to go through with it or not but I went along with a positive mental attitude and was determined to do it and I did! It was hard for me but the instructors were amazing and helped me through everything I was struggling with and I did it. I Dived!

This is the huge tank where the Dive takes place.
It's filled with Sharks, StingRays and all sort of Tropical Fish.

The Dive is a 2 hour experience which will cost you £100 but that price includes all 4 Basecamp activities too which I think is a really decent price for such a 'once of a lifetime' experience. I'd never dreamt that I'd be able to Dive with Sharks in the middle of Birmingham before but it is now possible thanks to Bear Grylls and his Adventures.

What to expect:
  • Experience the tropical tank together with over 800 sea creatures!
  • PADI beginner's certificate - All safety equipment provided
  • Each dive will generate a donation to the Shark Trust
  • Entry to the Adventure Basecamp
  • Total experience time: 210min

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your start time.

The instructors were so friendly and helpful and really helped me overcome my fears of being under water. Thanks to their patience, I got to experience something that I will truly never forget. I was underwater for a whole 20 minutes walking around the bottom of the tank. It was so surreal and I truly loved every minute of it. I thought beforehand that I was going to be terrified of the sharks but I wasn't. They were actually more scared of me than I was of them. They happily swam around the top of the tank leaving me alone at the bottom.

Above, is me doing the OK sign with the fishes in the tank. I was lucky enough to be allowed my GoPro in with us so I've popped Video below for you too see what it was all like.

I can hand on heart recommend this experience to everyone as it's so amazing. Each Dive is with no more than 4 people at one time so you get a very personal experience. You will need to book your tickets online as this is going to be very popular once the word gets out.

Let me know if you decide to go, I'd love to hear how you get on.

Disclosure: I was invited to the Bear Grylls Adventure for free in return for an honest review.

My Bear Grylls Adventure - Can I Face my Fears and Do it?

My Bear Grylls Adventure -
Can I Face my Fears and Do it?

I have some really exciting news this week. There's a brand new attraction opening in Birmingham this weekend and it's going to be huge! If you're a fan of Bear Grylls or doing things that are totally out of your comfort zone, then this place is going to be perfect for you.

The Bear Grylls Adventure can be located at the (N.E.C) National Exhibition Center, Halls, Marston Green, Birmingham B40 1PA. It's very close to the Train Station (Birmingham International) and easy to find by car too. It's a place I've visited many a time before.

This Sunday, in just 5 days time! I am going to be taking on the deep and diving into a big tank to get up close to over 1,000 underwater creatures incl. sharks and stingrays. I am so excited but also utterly terrified at the same time. I've never done anything like this before, so believe me when I say, I really don't know whether I'll have it in me or not to actually do this. I love the sea and all the amazing creatures in it but I've never really got that close before. I'm normally the one swimming in the sea, trying not to look down. I'm the one snorkeling but trying to avoid all the creatures and swimming away when they get too close.

It's going to be a real challenge for me but I'm going to try and face my 'fishy fears' and tackle them all, head on. It's completely out of my comfort zone but I can't wait. Bring it on!

If the Dive wasn't exciting enough, I'm going to be taking on the Bear Grylls Base Camp to. The Base Camp will consist of 4 thrilling challenges in an 90 action-packed minutes:

BREAK OUT - Escape Room:

Crack codes, solve puzzles and find your way out of the room.

TARGETS Archery:

You’ll need ultra-focus and precision for the targets ahead. Get a score to be proud of.

When all goes dark, you'll find your way out. When the walls are squeezing in, you will find your way through. When faced with challenge, you will keep your nerve.

Balance, jump, climb and scramble your way through the assault course against the clock.

I'm so excited and hoping to show you all how amazing it is when I do it on Sunday.

Watch this space and do come back to see how I got on - here's hoping for good news.
