Our #SummerHolidays Diary - Week 1

Our Summer Holidays Diary - Week 1

So, School's out and the Summer Holidays has officially begun. 7 weeks may seem like a long time but if last year was anything to go by, it's going to fly by so I've decided to make a diary. It's a nice way to keep track of all the fun things we will be getting up to. My 3 like to show their friends some of our pictures when they return to school, so again I thought that this would be a nice way to keep track of them all and maybe give you some ideas of things to do whilst we are at it. Living in busy Birmingham means there's always plenty to do.

Day 1 - Saturday 18th July

We started our holidays with a trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park in Tamworth which luckily we live very close too. It's one of our favourite places to visit as there's always so much to do and lots of fun to be had. It's always a guaranteed full day of fun for all the family there.

Day 2 - Sunday

Sundays are relaxing days here, they often mean a trip to Granny's or Nannys house for dinner so this one was no different. Dinner at Granny's was followed by a play in the park. A simple yet lovely day spent with family and enjoyed by all.

Day 3 - Monday

Monday saw our sea legs come out, or our swimming baths legs at least. A trip to the local swimming baths was the activity of the day and one that all 3 of my children love. Our 'waves' machine was broken but that didn't stop them having fun, they played on the slide and had fun playing with one of their diving rings which always makes for great entertainment. Piggy in the Middle is one of their favourite games to play with it.

Day 4 - Tuesday

Tuesday was Cinema Day! Thanks to my hobby (entering competitions) We got to go to the Cinema to see the new Minions Movie. With 4 free tickets and a £20 Odeon gift card in hand we had a fab, fun (free) day out. VIP seats on the back row with a feast of Popcorn, drinks and sweets. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The movie was very funny, not as good as Despicable Me (in my opinion) but a great family film which kept them all entertained long enough to sit still, which is a first for us as my little man never sits still.

Day 5 - Wednesday

Seeing as Wednesday is sometimes also known as 'Hump Day' we headed off for a hill climbing adventure in The Forest Of Dean. The Forest Of Dean is full of wonderful walking paths, cycle paths, parks and lakes. It's one of our favourite places to visit when we get the chance. It's about an hour and a half drive from Birmingham but it's worth it. Our day was spent walking, picnicking and playing in the streams. It rained for most of the day but that didn't stop us, with our raincoats on we still had a wonderful day out in the forest.

Day 6 - Thursday

Thursday was feast day again thanks to a prize I had won entering a competition. We had a voucher for a free meal for 2 at Jimmy Spices in Sutton Coldfield to use so that's where we went. My eldest being 12 qualifies as an adult so myself and Chloe got to eat free whilst my youngest two were half price anyway so we got to eat as much as we wanted for just £7.99. With a nice selection of Chinese, Indian and Italian foods, we were very happy.

Day 7 - Friday

Friday was Swimming Lessons Day so we didn't go far. Mummy had to go into work for a few hours so I got a few hours of peace (from the kiddies anyway). At Swimming Lessons, my youngest (5) passed his next stage exam and is now ready to move up into his next group. They're all doing so well now, I couldn't be prouder of my little swimmers.

It's been quite a busy week here, my children have been well and truly spoilt as we did so much in one week. My only fear now is that this week when we don't have as much planned, I'm going to be hearing the dreaded 'I'm Bored' every five minutes. Not every week is going to include days out every day but I'm going to try to set up some fun activities for right here at home. We're stocked up on colouring books and Jigsaw puzzles which should come in handy. I'll also be reading a lot of other blogs to pick up some new ideas.

What ever you're up to this week, have a good one.
