The Lobby On Hill Street's VIP Launch Party!

The Lobby On Hill Street's VIP Launch Party!

Last Thursday my friend Toni and I were invited to the VIP Launch Party of The Lobby On The Hill in Birmingham. It's located on the corner of Smallbrook Queensway and Hill Street, on the street level under The Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre Hotel. It's got that spacious, chilled out vibe going on with lots of open space and quirky decor inside. It's a relaxing Starbucks coffee lounge and authentic street food serving restaurant by day and then a quirky cocktail bar by night. It's different and got a little bit of everything to suit all.

The Launch Party was very classy with lots of amazing surprises throughout the night. We enjoyed a Champagne Reception and the biggest Gin & Tonic that I have ever seen. We were serenaded with live music from a local Jazz band and even had Glitter Makeovers.

Our evening was beautifully mapped out, quite literally on a map to make sure we got to experience everything that was on offer. The gentlemen in the room got a classic shoe shine whilst the ladies or I had lots of fun at the Mirror Photo Booth. I've not laughed so much is ages. Toni and I visited the booth more than once as we loved it so much. It was fun.

Canap├ęs were served up by the lovely staff and tasted amazing. I was a little appointed that they didn't serve some of their street food but what they did serve was delightful on it's own.

My favourite part of the night was when the guest DJ came out to get the party started. Craig Charles, the Red Dwarf star got behind the decks and played some great old tunes.

It was lovely to have a good old girly dance with my friends on the dance floor. It all felt a little surreal dancing in front of Craig Charles but what a wonderful night it was. Toni and I had a lovely time and really did get spoilt whilst we were there. On leaving we were given a goody bag which contained a voucher to use at a later date so we will be going back.

Thank you very much to The Lobby On Hill Street for inviting us along. I'm sure we'll be back very soon to try out some of your wonderful street food that I'm so longing to taste.

Disclosure: We were invited to attend the VIP Launch Party at The Lobby On The Hill.

Lanzarote - A Different Kind of Easter Holiday.

Lanzarote - A Different Kind of Easter Holiday.

Easter time is usually all about the chocolate for my family, but not this year!

Earlier this year, way back in April we switched things up a little bit and decided to embark on a family adventure, leaving all the chocolate behind. It was my Mum's 65th Birthday so she requested that she celebrated it in the sunshine with ALL her family around her.

After lots of deliberation, online research and family discussions, we finally decided upon Lanzarote which is generally well known for it's warmer weather all year round which is just what we were after. Our local high street Holiday shop helped us pick our hotel and pretty much sorted out the complete holiday package for us, which was quick and easy.

My children had never been on a plane before so this was officially the most adventurous thing we've ever done together as a family. I was really worried about it beforehand as I didn't know how they were going to react to flying and with a 4 hour flight, it was going to be a long one. Luckily, the children were so well behaved and really enjoyed the journey.

My little man Ryan who's 6 had an amazing time. He was so excited and really loved travelling, I think he's going to make a great explorer one day. Just like his Mum and Dad!

Lanzarote in April is sunny but not very warm, it only reached 19 degrees on most days but with the strong winds that accompanied the sun every day, it never felt very warm at all. We even had a few days of rain unfortunately, but we tried not to let that ruin our holiday. If you're going to Lanzarote in March/April, I'd definatley bring your cardigans or jumpers.

I love the beach, that feeling of soft sand between your toes. The beaches of Lanzarote weren't the best if I'm honest. Most of the beaches were lava covered so they were mainly rock. We did find some 'man made' style beaches where wave blocks had been built out of huge boulders around quiet coves to keep waters calmer for families to enjoy the sea a little better but these were quite a walk from our hotel so we only visited it once. Our hotel itself was lovely: the food, entertainment, pools and staff were all lovely. We couldn't fault the hotel at all really but for me, it's never the hotel that makes the holiday. It's the company!

Although I didn't really like Lanzarote that much and I wouldn't personally want to return, I still had a wonderful holiday with my family and have so many wonderful memories to treasure from our time there. My Mum had an amazing birthday surrounded by her family, just as she's wanted which is the most important thing. Our first adventure may be our best adventure for now but now that we've had a taste of family travel and fun it can be, we're all set to do it all over again, only next time: Bigger and Better! We can't wait!

They got to experience so many 'firsts' which was fab. Their first time kayaking on an open ocean, their first time seeing real life palm trees and their first time swimming under water.

Lanzarote was very memorable but for personal family reasons. We as a family had an amazing adventure and will always remember that holiday with fondness. It was our first whole family holiday that we sure won't be forgetting about any time soon, that's for sure.

Now that I know my children can handle holidays abroad, the possibilities for our next adventure are endless. I have several places in mind on our Bucket List, Africa for a Animal Safari. Dubai for a Luxury break and Greece for a city of Culture. I want to take my children to see the 'real' world that they live in so they can experience it's wonders for themselves. There's so much to see, learn and experience. I want them to love their holiday adventures just as much as I do. I don't think I'm going to have much trouble convincing them.

Adventures can be anywhere with anyone but for us adventures are always something new.

I love a good beach holiday with a sea full of exotic fishes to encounter but I wouldn't mind trying something new like a desert holiday close to nature and animals. I'm sure whatever we decide to take on next, we've going to make the most of every moment possible. Children don't stay children for long sadly so I intend to make the most of them whilst they are. It won't be too long before they grow and set out on their own adventures!

This post is our entry in to the Trips100/Family Adventure Company blogger challenge.

Chad Valley Designa Friend Model Doll - Tiffany #Review #ChadValley #Argos

Chad Valley Designa Friend Model Doll - Tiffany

Our first Chad Valley Play Panel box arrived safely last week filled with exciting new toys to play with so this week we're bringing to you, our very first review which is of the Chad Valley Designa Friend Doll: Tiffany. My daughter Lily, who's 9 was so excited when Tiffany arrived in her big pink box as she's already got one Designa Doll (who she loves) and was more than happy to be getting another to add to her collection. Her face lit up as she opened it.

Chad Valley DesignaFriend Model Doll - Tiffany

Tiffany is a really pretty doll with a hard face, arms and legs but a soft body. She comes wearing a beautiful pink evening gown with sandals, clutch bag, gloves and dangle earrings which can be changed. The box she comes in doubles up as a handy carry case with hanging space (bar included) on one side and a fold-out catwalk on the other side. It's like having your very own model run way with you every where you go. Lily loves her.

Tiffany also comes with a spare set of clothes which is a bit more casual. She has a cute T-Shirt, jeans and shoes to change into as well as some extra stud earrings which you can swap and change along with her outfits. She has lovely long super soft wavy hair which is very pretty but there was a note on her arm saying that only finger brushing was needed as her curls would come out if brushed. Lily wasn't too happy about that as she loves to style her dolls hair but I was a little relieved as it meant Lily wouldn't be messing with her hair too much which often resulted in her dolls getting very matted hair which was 'difficult' to fix.

Tiffany comes with a pretty charm bracelet with a heart pendant on for Lily to wear which was a nice little extra. Lily loves the pretty dress that Tiffany's wearing as it's pink and sparkly which are two of her favourite things. She loves the long hair but doesn't like that she can't style it as she'd want. Tiffany's blue eyes and blonde hair is very pretty, Lily has the opposite of brown eyes and brown hair so she often tends to go for the blonde dolls for a change so she was happy with that. I don't think Tiffany has changed out of her dress yet.

Lily loves the box because it turns into a Fashion Catwalk for her to play with and loves the carry case feature too as it means she can store her new friend away safely at night away from the hands of her little brother. Overall Lily was really pleased with her Designa Doll Tiffany. She's been sat in her room playing with her for a few hours every day since she arrived. I think I can quite happily say that Lily likes her and she's here to stay for good.

Disclosure: We received our Chad Valley Designa Friend Model Doll Tiffany for free for the purpose of this review but all the opinions expressed within it are 100& our own and honest.

Bath Time Fun with Colours Of The Sea Ariel Doll #Review #JakksBathTime

Bath Time Fun with Colours Of The Sea Ariel Doll

The Little Mermaid is one of our favourite Disney Movies here in our house so when we were offered a Colours Of The Sea Ariel Doll to review, we just couldn't say no. The Colours Of Ariel Doll is a gorgeous, free standing, hard bodied doll just perfect for bath times. Hear her say 14 magical phrases and sing "Part of Your World" from the iconic tale, the Little Mermaid. The box includes: Includes Ariel Doll, removable Tiara, and best friend Flounder.

Colours Of The Sea Ariel from Jakks.Com is a pretty doll with the most beautiful long red hair I've ever seen. She's perfect for playing with both in and out of the water. She speaks or sings every time you press the purple shell button on magical her pearl necklace. At bath times you can watch her sparkle and shine as her magical tail creates a beautiful light show.

Lily who's 9 fell in love with her from the moment that they met. There's not many bath toys for Lily's age so when she saw that Ariel could join her in the bath she was so excited. Not only does Ariel light up the bath water but Flounder squirts water too so there's lots of fun to be had. Ariel talks and sings as well as making the water light up, she's pretty magical.

Ariel's tail does fill up with water when she's submerges in the bath but it does drain out when you stand her up afterwards. She floats on her back like she's swimming which Lily loved and her tail lights up nice and bright making all the bath water light up too.

Ariel's beautiful hair is just as pretty when it's wet and doesn't clump up or tangle which is great new. After bath time we left her standing up on the side of the bath to dry which doesn't take too long. She stands really easy as her tail makes her stand upright when needed. Her hair dried quite quickly and didn't get knotty and brushed easily afterwards.

Colours Of The Sea Ariel does require batteries but you'll be happy to know that they do come included. Ariel is recommended for children aged 3 and over, Lily is 9 and loves her.

We've really loved having Ariel around at bath times as she really does light up the room, both in and out of the water. She's a delightful doll, perfect for any Disney Princess lover.

It's Beginning to look a bit like ... Halloween with HARIBO's Halloween Range #Review

It's Beginning to look a bit like ... Halloween
with HARIBO's Halloween Range.

Halloween is slowly creeping up on us and will soon be here. We don't do too much to celebrate Halloween in our house but we do enjoy dressing up at home and tucking into some scary treats whilst watching a family friendly scary movie like Hocus Pocus.

We are huge fans of HARIBO here in our house and enjoy their sweets all year round but their spooky Halloween range this year is pretty scary and yummy. We were sent some to try out and have to say, they were delicious and won't let you down. You get all the great expected taste that you'd expect from HARIBO but in new spooky shapes and designs.

There's two main Halloween treats this year which are: HARIBO Scaremix and HARIBO TangfasTricks. You can buy each one desperately in large bags or treat size bags or try both  at once with the new HARIBO Scaremix and TangfasTricks Duo Tub which is great.

Limited edition HARIBO Scaremix features the same iconic shapes found in Starmix, but in a terrifyingly good mix of new colours and flavours. They're great for Halloween parties, you’ll find Toffee Apple Monster’s Eyeball, Boo Bears and Dracula rings, alongside blackcurrant, bubblegum and blood orange flavours in this cauldron of treats. Spook-Tastic!

HARIBO TangfasTricks look like a treat but could be a trick with this naughty and nice bag that not only contains standard tangy pieces – perfect for you to sink your fangs into - but also hot and super-sour ones! Beware, approximately one in three pieces is a trick!

My little monsters absolutely love the new Halloween sweets from HARIBO. I was trying to save some for any Trick Or Treater's that may call but they've pretty much eaten them all so I may have to go and buy some more and hide them out of reach until Halloween arrives. The Scaremix was their favourite as the there's no nasty surprises in those. The TangfasTricks were nice but only if you got a sour sweet, the Hot ones were not the nicest but for sour sweet lovers, the Super Sour ones went down a treat, they loved those.

Whatever you're up to this Halloween, why not add some HARIBO fun to it.

Disclosure: We recieved our samples for free in return for an honest review.
