My Kids Capture the Colour #KIDSCTC

Kid's Capture the Colour

Kid's Capture the Colour' is an exciting challenge for children aged 15 or under to get creative and photograph the world around them. There are five different coloured categories to enjoy; Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red. I was lucky enough to be one of the chosen 100 bloggers to take part meaning my eldest daughter Chloe received a free digital camera to help her.

She's never had a camera of her own before so this was all completely new to her. Even though she is 10 years old she had never had really been behind the camera before so please bear this in mind and give her a chance, I'm sure she will get better in time. I didn't have any influence in any of her photographs or subjects, I simply gave her the camera and said go.

Blue Category:

Chloe choose her little brothers favourite toy as the focus of her shot. As you can see from the picture it hadn't been played with in a while and was just lying quite lonely amongst the long grass. It's a simple shot but quite nice I think.

Green Category:

I think this picture was taken outside the new Birmingham Library, I say think as I wasn't there on the day. She had gone to visit it with my Mum and Sister and must have taken her camera with her. This is the first time that I had seen it but I think it's a stunning picture.

Yellow Category:

Yellow is for one of our beautiful sunflowers of course. Even in September they are still shining bright. Chloe really loves her sunflowers as she grew them herself from seeds.

White Category:

White is for clean steam coming out of the funnel on our steam train ride. We had a wonderful ride on a miniature steam train at Birmingham's Kingsbury Water Park, Chloe took this picture whilst we enjoyed our ride, luckily she had the very front seat so got a clear shot.

Red Category:

Red is for the hundreds of red berries that grow on our garden bush. They're a real eye catcher in our garden and the birds seem to love them too.

I'm really proud of my daughter Chloe, for a girl who had never taken any pictures before she did a really great job and I'm happy to display her pictures with a huge smile.

This is my 10 year old Chloe's entry into the Travelsupermarket.com's Kids Capture the Colour competition.

The Zelfs Venus Fly Trap Spin Salon #Review

The Zelfs Venus Fly Trap Spin Salon

The Zelfs' live in an enchanted little garden full of surprises called Zardenia. They dwell in different fabitats tucked all over the garden...in the trees, mounds of rocks and even dark corners. They attend Zardenias School of Rock Garden and swap conversations at Witchbrew Bistro. Love your Zelf and they'll share their special powers with you. Each Zelf is totally unique and has a special power that only shines when they are loved.

Fancy yourzelf a curl or a crimp? Then the Venus Flytrap Spin Salon from Character is the place to be! It includes an exclusive "Tressa" medium size Zelf and a range of fun hair accessories! Twirl and swirl your Zelf and give them and yourzelf a really good hair day.

This Venus Fly Trap Spin Salon is aimed at children aged 5 and over as it contains several small parts and costs around £19.99. If you love The Zelfs then you'll love this too.

My girls are huge Zelf fans already so this was a very welcomed addition to their collection. It's very bright and full of things to do with your Zelfs. There's cute clip in hair extensions and pretty butterfly clips. There's a little set of drawers to hide all your bits in and there's a fun spinning chair for your Zelf to sit in. I really like this set as it's nice and compact, it all folds away neatly into a Venus Fly Trap plant pot. It's great for styling your Zelfs hair on the go too as it's small enough to take out with you. My girls love brushing their Zelfs hair and now with this new crazy hair salon they can do so much more than just brush it. They can twist it, twirl it and lots lots more!

The Zelfs Venus Fly Trap Spin Salon is lots of fun and gets a firm thumbs up from all of us here at Mummy Of 3 Diaries. We loved it so much that we scored it a fabulous 4/5.

Disclosure: We received a The Zelfs Venus Fly Trap Spin Salon for the purpose of this review.

Do you ever feel like you can't keep up?

Do you ever feel like you can't keep up?

Do you ever feel like you're NOT a Super Mum?

The answer is YES! Lately I've been feeling like a ship sinking in the middle of an enormous ocean of things I need to do. The list grows bigger and BIGGER as I grow tired and sleepier.

My girls love being active so who I am to stop them but their list of out of school activities is growing all the time. The girls both have an after school club which they attend once a week as well as weekly Rainbows / Girl Guides and weekly private swimming lessons.

Daddy has joined a gym and now goes three times a week for an hour at a time.

And what has mummy done......nothing!

I spend my whole life making sure that I am in the right place at the right time to drop kids off or pick them up or get things ready or sort things out.

I want to be a good mum but I also want a life. I want to do things that I enjoy, although I now feel really selfish for saying that out loud. Do you think I'm being selfish?

I know I get a few hours to myself when the girls are in school and little man is in nursery but it's just not long enough to go anywhere or really do much. I try to treat myself to a bath or a nice lunch to cheer myself up but that's about all I can do, isn't it.

I love my little family and I always do everything I can to make sure they all happy. I just sometimes forget to make myself happy too which often ends up in a grumpy, fed up mummy who just wants to run away from it all and hide where no one can find me. I'd never actually do that but it's not a nice feeling to even want to do it.

I'm NOT a Super Mum and I know I'm not but I try my best which is all that I can do.

Maybe one day life will throw me a life raft and the ride will get easier.

Our #SomethingSpecialParty went with a bang!

Our #SomethingSpecialParty went with a bang!

As you all know we hosted a live Something Special Party alongside 23 other lovely bloggers across the UK last Thursday which was so much fun. We played party games and enjoyed yummy spotty food. There was balloons and dancing, colouring and lots of playing. As well as having a wonderful time here at our party I also tweeted the whole thing live on Twitter.

The main aim of having our Something Special Party was to let the children play with all the new Something Special toys so I could report back to you on which ones they liked best.

There was one clear favourite which I noticed every child wanted to play with and that was the Something Special Dress Up Mr Tumble Stick on Felts. The children had loads of fun mixing and matching the clothing to create fun outfits for Mr Tumble. It's the ideal  toy for developing the little ones hand eye coordination. I even had a little play with this one myself as I remember having felt board when I was little, they were always great fun.

The children's second favourite was the Something Special Large Talking Soft Toy and also the Something Special Mr Tumble Pick 'n' Match Pairs game. Both of these went down very well the kids, Pairs is always a popular game as it's nice and easy to play but having Mr Tumble on the back of them made these ones even more special and the kids just loved them.

My little man's favourite and mine was the Something Special Mr Tumble Bag. After watching the show every day the Spotty Bag is very recognisable and loved by us all. My little man couldn't wait to get his hands on this one, he carries it everywhere with him still.

All the Something Special toys are fantastic, they're great quality toys at great low prices and are all available from Tesco right now! My little man Ryan loves his new Something Special toys and I'm sure that your own little Something Special fans would adore them too.

Arrrghhh - Don't Rock the Boat #Review

Don't Rock the Boat from University Games

Ahoy, mateys! Get ready to set sail on a rockin’ new adventure with a crew of 16 super cute pirate penguins. Take your turn balancing the pirate penguins on top of the ship without making it tip over. Be careful though because if you rock the boat and send the penguins overboard, you lose!

It's a great new balancing game for all the family to enjoy, although it is aimed at children aged 5 and over my 3 year old son has been joining in the fun too. We love a good game after dinner time here in our house so last week we set up our Don't Rock The Boat for a quick quick game. It's very easy to set up, you simply click the masts onto the boat and place the boat on top of the plastic pretend wave. From box to table, It's ready to play in seconds.

It's a very nerve wracking game of skill which takes lots of patience as it tips over a lot. It's quite a tricky game to play as balancing the pirate penguins is quite hard to do but we had lots of fun trying. My girls loved this game, there was lots of giggles and screams during our game.

It's recommended that you play with between 2-4 players but I guess you can play with as many or as little as you like. We played with the 4 of us and had a great time, with 16 loveable pirate penguins there is more than enough for everyone as it normally tips well before you get to use them all, in fact I don't think we got past adding the fifth penguin during our games.

We really enjoyed playing Don't Rock The Boat, it's a fast paced free for all at times but it's great fun and the excitement builds very quickly as everyone waits for the boat to tip over sending all it's little pirate friends flying everywhere. We gave this game a fantastic score of 4/5, it's easy to set up and very easy to play. It's a simple game idea of balancing penguins on a ship, anyone can do it. I'm sure we will continue to enjoy playing this game for many more family times to come, it's a real giggle and delight to play together. A firm thumbs up from us!

Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kit #Review

Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kit

After a lot of hard work your teen has made the grade and will shortly be embarking on university life, this Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kit is an absolute essential for every student staying in halls of residence is bedding. If you're like me though and your children are a bit young to be leaving and aren't actually going anywhere just yet then why not use it as a childs bedroom survival kit as it has everything you need to make your bed in one great pack.

My eldest daughter Chloe suffers who's now 10 was more than happy to be my Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kit tester, in fact she kind of insisted. The Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kit contains a 10.5 tog duvet ( you can buy single or double ) and 2 pillows. We were testing the single kit which is why I didn't get to be the tester myself *sighs.

The 10.5 tog quilt is nice and fluffy, it's quite thin and really lightweight which is perfect for Chloe as she overheats quite easily sometimes which can set off her eczema.

The 2 pillows are great, they're nice and plump but again really lightweight. Chloe dressed hers straight away in pink pillow cases of course but she was pleased with how fluffy they were, she hates flat pillows and refuses to sleep on them if they are so luckily I can say that the Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kit's pillows passed her test.

The Slumberdown Bedroom Survival Kits is exclusively available at Argos and is half price at £14.99 for the single (catalogue number 1067114) and £19.99 for the double (catalogue number 1072752) until Tuesday 8 October which is a great price for what you are getting.

Chloe and I both love her new bedroom set and are really pleased with the quality.  Together we scored it a fantastic 4/5 and gave it a firm thumbs up! Chloe will be leaving her new duvet and pillows on her bad as she really likes them, approval from a 10 year old is pretty good.

Ultimate Tom - Tree Fu Tom #Review

Ultimate Tom - Tree Fu Tom

This action-packed, fully poseable Tree Fu Tom action figure has wings that magically pop out when you press the button on his chest. He plays the music from the hit TV show which automatically starts playing when you tilt him into a flying pose.

You can press the buttons on either side of his Sapstone Belt and press his Holopax to make them both light up and you'll hear one of over 30 Tree Fu Tom phrases.

Tom is the main character in the very popular children's TV programme Tree Fu Tom which my little man loves. It's a very energetic show which joins Tom and his friends in a magical place called Tree Topolis where things are always going wrong. Tree Fu Tom uses movements to create magical powers to save the day. He encourages his watchers to join in with the moves to help him on his way. It's a fun filled , action packed show which youngsters love.

Ultimate Tom has over 30 phrases and sounds. He plays the theme tune music from the hit TV show plays when you tilt him into a flying pose and has fantastic articulated arms and legs which enables you to change him into so many positions. With his light up Holopax and Sapstone Belt there's lots of interactive fun to be enjoyed.

My little man hasn't really shown much interest in action figure toys before because they're normally quite small and aimed at much older children but he adores his new Ultimate Tom. This action figure is a nice chunky sized one full of interactive buttons, lights and fully poseable limbs. When his wings are out he plays music simply by tilting him into his flying position which is really clever. When his wings are in he says lots of different phrases from the TV show which is great, there's not 5 for over 30 different ones to hear. Ryan loves this toy, he's played with it nearly every single day since he arrived two weeks ago. He's even had to fight his big sister off on a few occasions as she's taken a liking to him too, everyone loves Tree Fu Tom. It doesn't matter how young or old, boy or girl, everyone can play with him.

If you have a Tree Fu Tom fan in your house then I'd definitely recommend this Ultimate Tom toy to you. The play value is fantastic, there's so many combinations of sounds and lights and movements making play time lots of fun. This is not just an action figure, Ultimate Tom is the Ultimate action figure.

Mummy of 3 diaries gave Ultimate Tom a fantastic 5/5 as we loved this toy and couldn't fault it. We received our Ultimate Tom for free for the purpose of this review but all the opinions expressed are 100% my own and completely honest.

Brand New Thomas & Friends - ‘King Of The Railway'

Brand New Thomas & Friends
 ‘King Of The Railway'

There’s a surprise in store on the Island of Sodor!  Join Thomas, Percy and James as they meet their new engine friend Stephen and are entrusted with an important new job from a royal visitor. Thomas & Friends CG animated DVD special, ‘King of the Railway’, will be on sale from Monday 1st September. This must-see special introduces exciting and diverse new characters as well as historic new destinations, so climb aboard for a thrilling ride!

We joined Thomas & Friends as they embarked on a legendary movie adventure last Wednesday at a very special VIP screening which took place at Drayton Manor Theme Park in Tamworth. The steam team’s quest began when a special guest arrived on Sodor with a big surprise and lots of important jobs for Thomas, Percy and James to do. The engines met new friends and discovered suits of armour, coats of arms and legends of long-ago heroes. Their bravery was put to the test when their new friend Stephen went missing but did Thomas find him in time? ( I can't possibly tell you the answer ) Will the engines discover the truth about the Island of Sodor’s biggest mystery? King Of The Railway is fun packed crusade of knightly proportions for Thomas & Friends. Ryan and I really enjoyed it, it was a little hard to get Ryan to sit still for all of it as it lasted a full hour but he he is still only little (aged 3). We got to enjoy this new movie in a 4D cinema, the film itself was shown in 2D but there was lots of 4D effects thrown in for us like pretty bubbles and moving seats. It was lots of fun, I'm so glad we went along to enjoy it.

Drayton Manor is home to one of our favourite places ever - Thomas Land. My little man loves it there, in fact we all do. There's so many rides for him to enjoy but the Airplanes are by far his favourite of them all, he loved them so much that we had to ride them again and again and again. Luckily for us there was no queues at all last week as most of the schools were back open so it was nice and quiet. Thankfully the weather was gorgeous and the sun shone down on us making our whole experience just perfect. Sadly my girls had to go to school so they couldn't join us this time so we took Grandad and cousin Luke along with us. I think they had a great time too, my dad enjoyed the Bumper Cars, the Pirate Adventure and even the Carousel which he said he hadn't been on for over 40 years, it was really nice to see him have a good time.

Thomas & Friends new DVD is definitely worth watching if you're a Thomas fan. It's a fun filled adventure with lots of new characters to meet and enjoy.

We finished off our day off with a picture with the Fat Controller who was more than happy to pose with us. Drayton Manor is a delightful place where real family memories are made every day. If you're ever in tamworth it's well worth visiting, there's fun for everyone.

Disclosure, Thank you to Drayton Manor who invited us to this special VIP screening of Thomas & Friends King Of The Railway. We had free entry into the park and received a Thomas & Friends goody bag. This post has been written of my own accord and all the opinions expressed are honest and my own.
