Guest Post - Super Foods That Fight Cancer

Super Foods That Fight Cancer

Cancer is a complicated disease that we are only beginning to understand. There are different treatments that are attempted on individuals who have cancer with varied degrees of success. However, there are some who suggest that it may well be better for us to consider foods that fight cancer as alternatives to the modern medical techniques that science has created. By using these foods instead of some of the tools of modern medicine, some individuals may be able to see improvement in their condition.

It should be noted that there is no single food that can prevent cancer. Myths that are floating around about this are just false. It has been shown though that certain combinations of foods may be able to help prevent one from getting cancer. There is still much more research to be done of course, but initial results shows that some foods are good protectors.

Beans, Berries, Green Tea, and Tomatoes are just a few of the foods that have been shown to help prevent cancer. These foods are planted based, and many scientists believe that this is the secret to unlocking which foods are the cancer fighters.

The American Institute for Cancer
(AICR) has recommended that two-thirds of the plate should be filled with plant based foods at each meal. This is the best way to get as many plant based products into one's diet. From there, it is just up to the individual to continue to push themselves to have as many plants in their diet as possible. When they do, they will hopefully enjoy the benefits of increased cancer protection.

Taking a look at how the individual foods work against cancer now, we turn to beans. Beans include lentils and peas along with all other types available. When looking at this food in lab studies, scientists have been particularly interested in the
saponins
ingredient that is found in many bean varieties. It is believed that this is the ingredient that is working against the cancer cells that might otherwise form. It is also being shown that saponins have done well to shrink the size of tumors.

For those who might prefer green tea, there is good news too. Studies of green tea have shown that it may well slow the buildup of cancer in many different parts of the body. This is a bonus for all of the green tea addicts out there.

There are a small handful of foods that have been tested on how well they prevent cancer so far. These studies have concentrated on different types of cancers like
breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and even rare types like epithelial mesothelioma. Research will continue to expand and hopefully studies will continue on these foods and other types of ways to fight cancer. If that does in fact happen, then we all may learn of new things that we should be consuming to try to prevent this terrible disease.
